anyone else ever have this happen? we'd been living together for a year and a half, dating for three. i moved to a new state with her so she could go to grad school. after we'd been living there for a year and a half, she went home for christmas for a week and a half, and when she came back she walked out on me two days later with no warning while i was at work. yup, came home to find her gone...she had driven to north carolina to be with a guy that she had known in high school and been reintroduced to over break, leaving me alone and unable to make rent in our shared lease in a city where i know nobody. two weeks later, after talking regularly, she arrives to get her stuff from the apartment and informs me that a week after she left, she married this guy, whom she had been dating for a week. turns out every man she's ever dated, after a year or two or in my case three, around late december to mid march, she finds a new independent man to replace the one that had gotten dependent on her, and just runs away from the old one, trying her hardest to make him hate her in the process. since if he hates her he'll get angry at the wretched way he was treated, and it's then easier to convince herself it was ok to do whatever she wanted because he was an asshole. the fact that he was only an asshole after she cheated on him and left doesn't ever seem to get through. so now i'm alone in a three bedroom apartment in an economically depressed city where i only know the 5 or 6 people that SHE made friends with, stuck living in an apartment we shared in a city i came to for her for the next 6 months, forced to see reminders of our relationship literally every moment of my waking day, in the house or not. and of course, i had to make her sign a contract saying that she would continue to pay her share of rent and bills so i dont get evicted, so every month i have to sit and wonder whether she's going to send me money or if this is the time i'm going to have to file a lawsuit for breach of contract.
