My BF and I said that we would never allow outside influences affect our relationship, that if we were to succeed (or fail) it was because of each other and not anyone else. We’ve been together for 2 ˝ years, living together for 1 year (both divorced, I have no kids, he has two). But, the way my BF deals with his Ex both upsets me and makes me jealous because she seems to have all of the control. He will never stand up to her or tell her that she's out of line and she happily uses the kids to manipulate him because she knows that he'll never say no (which he won't) to anything she asks in front of the kids (i.e.- fixing the cable) or to take the kids because she has her monthly vacation planned. I feel like I become the bad person because I am put in the position of asking him to take time away from his kids as I would like to go out on a Saturday night and he doesn't like getting a sitter for the kids when he has them (even if he has them 10 out of 12 weekends). I often find myself getting angry at him for agreeing to things with his Ex that are not bad things but, because, I don't like that she constantly gets what she wants from him and he accommodates her "for the sake of the children." I don't know how to control my resentment. Whenever I think about leaving the relationship, I just can't because I know that he's a good man, I love him and I don't want to give her the satisfaction of knowing that she drove us apart. That's crazy on my part, to even think about what her reaction will be if we break up and choose not to act because of it. Why do some men feel the need not to cause issues and put up with more crap once divorced than when married.
